Statement of Purpose

At this point of time in life, expressing my passion is the greatest gratification especially when it comes to the professional career. This is the reason behind my happiness and eagerness while applying to one of the most reputed universities for Master’s program in Telecommunications. Since my childhood, I wondered, how a small box could generates such wonderful music and how stories come alive on Television. Distance is no longer a problem and world has become much smaller and more accessible because of the advent of modern technologies of telecommunications. My predilection for science saw me selecting ‘Electronics and Telecommunications’ as my specialization in undergraduate studies.

In my undergraduate studies, I had the opportunity to learn Digital Communication, Television, Microprocessors and Microcontrollers, Computer Networks, Satellite Communications, RADAR, Electromagnetic Fields, Digital Electronics, Optical Communications and others which has further augmented my interest in Telecommunications and thus planned to peruse Masters in Wireless communications. Wireless communications is growing rapidly and is indeed enthralling to observe how the world has contracted with the emergence of wireless technologies.

At Kavikulguru Institute of Technology and Science, Ramtek Nagpur, Maharashtra, India, my final year project was ‘Investigation and Analysis of Wideband System for IEEE 802.15.3a’. This was a MATLAB based project, which involved the concept of designing of antennas and using different types of medium to transfer the data. Our objective of this project was to find which medium is best suited for wideband system. To find this, Bit Error Rate (BER) was calculated for different types of medium. Via this project, I learned MATLAB, how to test each block independently. I also learned how a block responds when other blocks such as padding block, unwanted antennas are added. In addition to this, analysing the output graph of a run was more interesting and challenging. This project was more about implementing the theoretical knowledge into practice and an opportunity to work in team.

Being inclined towards telecommunications, I never left any opportunity to enhance my knowledge in this field. I have taken part in many workshops and have also organised many events and conferences on telecommunications. I was an active member of an electronics and communication forum at my college called ‘Electromatix’. I was a part of Electrmatix for three years (2010 to 2013). During my first year (2010-11) in this forum, I was an executive member. With constant participation in attending and organizing the events and conferences, I was spotlighted by my professors and made head-event coordinator (2011-12) of the forum. During 2012-13, I was put in the shoes of joint secretory which was another challenge to bring forward some more creative events and latest technologies to other students.

In seventh grade, I extracted gratification in representing my school in inter-school tournaments. I was the captain of my team and we grabbed silver medal in the tournament. Also, I am a badminton player and represented by school and undergraduate college in various tournaments. This experiences, provided me with an opportunity to work in a team and equipped me to deal with pressure of leading a team.

During placement drive in the final year of my undergraduate that is 2013, I was selected in an Information Technology company named ‘Quinnox Consultancy Services’. I joined the company in November 2013 and worked for 20 months for various clients. I was an Automation Tester (QTP tool testing) and worked for Alliance Bernstein (Head quarter: New York city) and SunTrust (Head quarter: Atlanta, GA). During this period, I was identified as a Star Performer of a month and best deliver team of the year (SunTrust project team). But as I was not much aware of IT and different languages, this made the work monotonous and less interesting. At this company, I got the strength to deal with pressure, work in team, give what is expected and demanded and work experience under supervisor. In addition to this, it also equipped me with analyzing and understanding abilities. As I worked for U.S clients, I had interaction with them very frequently. This experience of interacting with client from different country developed me confidence.

With my dedication and keenness to learn I was self-evident that, I will be a perfect student at George Mason University. I was looking forward to study at George Mason University and give my best in enriching my knowledge. Becoming a part of INTO George Mason is a great experience in it self. This program has developed in many aspects. It has made me more confident about my language, speaking skills, writing skills etc.

Looking forward to be a part of full time telecommunication course.
